The fourth annual St. Louis Small Press Expo (stlspexpo) show and sale will take place from 10:00-5:00 on Saturday, October 14th in the Great Hall of the St. Louis Public Library’s Central Branch, 1301 Olive Street, 63103. Stlspexpo will curate panels, demonstrations and workshops that will take place throughout the day at Central Library featuring local, regional and national publishers as well as Central Library’s Creative Experience. All stlspexpo events will be free and open to the public.
Applications for tables will be open from May 1, 2017 through midnight on May 31, 2017. Stlspexpo seeks the widest possible variety of participants. Publishers of zines, limited run art books, comics, traditional books, broadsides, journals of literature and/or art are all encouraged to apply, especially those with a unique format or target audience. Applications are entirely online and will be available at stlouissmallpressexpo.com.
The St. Louis Small Press Expo was founded in 2014 to showcase and better connect the St. Louis small press community. The overwhelmingly positive response from publishers and the public alike has helped stlspexpo double in size in just three years. St. Louis Public Library’s Central Branch continues to be an ideal host for the Expo; in addition to hosting the show itself, Central Library has added the works of previous stlspexpo publishers to its permanent collection where they’re available to be checked out by library patrons. Many of these items can be found in Central’s Zine Library, located in the Entertainment, Literature & Biography room, just off the Great Hall.
The St. Louis Small Press Expo is organized collectively by: Christopher Chablé (Somnadrome Press); Nick Kuntz (Any Other Time & Underworld Adventure Comics); David Peery (Bear & Otter, Co.); Nicky Rainey; Jared Rourke (A Queer Press); Jen Tappenden (Architrave Press); and Kristie Wickwire (Please Hold Magazine).
